The Rheumatology Research Foundation

01 — Project details

The Rheumatology Research Foundation (RRF) needed to communicate the impact of their funded research to a broad audience—including patients, caregivers, and donors—many of whom don’t have a medical background. They wanted to humanize the science, break down the research process, and show how funding translates to real hope for people living with rheumatic diseases.

02 — The Solution

As part of the Markstein team, I crafted a suite of content that brought clarity and compassion to complex topics. My work included:

  • Patient-friendly articles highlighting real-world outcomes of RRF’s research initiatives, spotlighting both patient and researcher perspectives to make the science relatable and emotionally resonant.

  • A motion graphic script that walked viewers through the rheumatology research process—from funding and discovery to clinical application—in plain language, making it easy to grasp how breakthroughs happen.

This content became the foundation for The RheumLab, an educational and storytelling initiative designed to raise awareness, build trust, and encourage support for ongoing research.

03 — The Impact

By transforming technical jargon into accessible narratives, the campaign made a complex research pipeline feel personal and hopeful. The storytelling approach helped RRF better connect with patients and supporters, demonstrating how their work drives meaningful change in the lives of people with rheumatic diseases.
